This week has been mind-blowing!

In Language Arts and Social Studies we read chapters 7 and 8 of Ticket to Curlew. Sam's little brother Matt wanted to go exploring and got lost on the prairie. It was starting to get dark, and they got lost. They found wagon ruts to follow, but they were still a long way from home. Then one of their neighbour's children was rode up in a wagon and offered to give them a ride back to their house. Sam explained to Pa why they were late and they went to bed. The next day Pa gave Sam, Matt and Josie a dappled gray horse named Prince that would take them to school and make sure they didn't get lost.

In Science we continued building our cars. After we built our cars, we logged onto the computer and made a reflection video about what changes and tweaks we made to our cars. Last Friday, we also had a test run and made a goal for how far and how straight we could make our car go.

This week in Math, we learned a math strategy called the "Partial Product" strategy. First you grab the bigger number and put it in your equation, then you split the larger number into each place value and multiply each place value by the smaller factor. Finally, you add up the products to get your final answer.

Here's a video that breaks down how it works:

Passion Projects!

This week, Gavin presented his Passion Project about planets. We learned that the earth is the most capable planet to support living things!

Kevin also presented his Passion Project about Paris. We learned that originally the people who lived in Paris did not want the Eiffel Tower to be built. They also love macarons.
