This week was nice, sunny, and stupefyingly warm!

In math we did problem solving using the strategy CUBES.
Circle important numbers
Underline the question you need to answer
Box any math words
Evaluate and eliminate unnecessary information
Solve your work and double check.

We also had a math check-in, to see where we were at in math.

In science we are continuing to build our playground. Here are a few pictures!

In social studies we learned how Canada convinced people to come to Alberta by stretching the truth about how "good" all of the land in Alberta was. There were also some terrific reasons to come to Alberta too! We read in our Voices of Alberta Social Studies textbook to find out about the pros and cons of coming to Alberta. Here are a few pictures!

In language arts we did our cat/rat perspective writing. We edited our perspective writing.

We were also treated to a special performance put on by the Grade 10 students at John G. Diefenbaker High School. The skits were hilariously cool!

Reminders:
  • Student-led conferences are scheduled next week on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22. Conference bookings can be made through the PHS website.
  • Music tests begin on Monday next week.
  • We will not be having Daily 5 next week, so there will be no spelling to practice.
  • We will continue to construct our playground parks for our simple machines unit next week. Please continue to collect items that you may find useful for building your equipment. Bring a bag to store all of your materials if you have one.
  • Spring break is from March 25th to March 31st. School will resume on Monday, April 1st.

Have a enjoyable, and marvelous weekend!
