Happy New Year and welcome back from winter vacation!

This week, Ms. Costello was very excited to start working with the grade 4 students!

In science, we had a presentation about lights and shadows. Our speaker was from the University of Calgary, and we learned about how light travels. We also wrapped up the Waste in Our World unit, and learned about packaging.

In math, we reviewed regrouping with addition and subtraction, and practiced with some mental math games and activities.

In social studies, we finished up work on our Alberta Slides project and our regions chart.

We started practicing our handwriting this week! We are up to letter "c".

Next week, our next spelling pattern is:

When a word ends in silent e, the e is usually dropped before adding an ending or suffix that begins with a vowel.

trade + ed = traded
move + er = mover
surprise + ing = surprising
